Burns Night 2026 on Saturday 24 Jan (1st week) at 7.30pm is fast approaching!
St Columba's URC is located on Alfred Street (OX1 4EH), just off High Street in central Oxford.
If you are coming on foot, walk from Carfax Tower along the High Street going East, and take the turn on the right just before the The Ivy restaurant. We are about 50 metres down Alfred Street, on the right. If you find yourself next to The Bear Inn then you have missed us! There is step-free access to the front entrance off Alfred Street and we have ramps that can be put in place for step-free access from Blue Boar Street into the Church Hall.
Cycling is a good way to get to St Columba's. There is bike parking on Blue Boar Street by the pub garden, and also directly opposite where Alfred Street meets Blue Boar Street. Please lock your bike carefully as bike theft is an ongoing issue in Oxford. Alfred Street itself is cobbled so you may prefer to approach via Blue Boar Street from St Aldates, or Bear Lane from King Edward Street.
Many buses coming from the East of the City Centre stop on the High Street between Carfax and Alfred Street and some stop on St Aldates just round the corner. You can walk to St Columba's from the High Street via Alfred Street (cobbles and narrow pavements) or from St Aldate's via Blue Boar Street, turning left at the Bear Pub.
St Columba's is about 10 minutes walk from Oxford Rail Station. You can get a no 1 or no 5 bus from the station if you prefer, getting off on St Aldate's just before Carfax, and then walking along Blue Boar Street to get to St Columba's.
Short-term parking spaces can be found on streets nearby or at the various city centre car parks (such as at the Westgate Shopping Centre) for longer stays. However, if you are coming from outside of the ring road, we recommend using one of Oxford's Park & Ride services as private car use is heavily restricted in and around Oxford City Centre.
If you have a "blue badge" disabled parking permit there are a few suitable spaces on Blue Boar Street, just around the corner from our front entrance, and some single and double yellow lines on the High Street that you can park on for up to three hours.
Please note: You cannot drive a private vehicle along High Street from the East to get to Alfred Street after 7.30am or before 6:30 pm.
