St Columba's is on Alfred Street, just off the High Street in central Oxford.
See where we are: St Columba’s Church in OpenStreetMap, Streetmap of OX1 4EH, or Google Maps of OX1 4EH.
On foot
If you are coming on foot, walk from Carfax down the High Street and take the turn on the right just before the NatWest bank and opposite The Mitre pub. We are about 20 metres down Alfred Street, on the right. The church has a modern front with glass doors.
By car
If you have a car, parking spaces (for up to two hours) can be found on streets nearby or (for longer) in the various city centre car parks. Please note that you cannot drive along the High Street from the East to get to Alfred Street until after 18:30.
If you are coming from outside the ring road, we recommend using one of our City's excellent Park and Ride services. Visitors to our Sunday morning services can use one of the few spaces we have in the car park at Corpus Christi college - this is only available on Sunday mornings, though! To find this you need to drive up the High from the Plain and turn left into Merton Street (immediately after the Longwall Street junction). At the other end of Merton Street Corpus Christi College car park is on the left, just before the back gate to Christ Church.
If you are coming to St. Columba's for an evening event then there is various free parking in the City Centre - limited single yellows on the High Street and free parking on St. Giles from 6.30pm, although you still need to display a (free) ticket from the machine.
If you have a disabled parking permit there are a few suitable spaces on Blue Boar Street, just around the corner from our front entrance.
Trade/van access
There is no access to Alfred Street via High Street from the direction of The Plain (East) between 07:30 and 18:30 every day of the week including Sundays.
We think the best access route is via Abingdon Road. After folly bridge you have to turn left into Thames Street then right back on yourself into Speedwell Street to take you up to a junction where you turn left onto St Aldates. Follow this and then turn right at Carfax (you have no choice!) into High Street. Turn right down Alfred Street (just after All Bar One and before the NatWest bank). Alfred Street is very narrow and busy with trade vehicles during office hours.
Traffic wardens will allow 20 minutes' parking on the footpath if a trade visitor needs access to tools.
